BEAST outracin' Hel...
Οι Beast είναι μια νέα μπάντα από τη Στοκχόλμη που γνωρίσαμε φέτος μέσω της σουηδικής ετικέτας Gaphals Records και που μας εντυπωσίασε με την πρώτη. Φτιαγμένοι από παιδιά μέσα από τη hardcore και τη metal σκηνή της πόλης και με μια τραγουδίστρια με καταπληκτική φωνή, συνδυάζουν τα καλύτερα στοιχεία της μουσικής από την παγωμένη χώρα τους και έχουν όλα έκεινα που μας κάνουν να υποπτευόμαστε ότι μπορούν να ξεχωρίσουν. Παρουσίασαν πριν μερικές βδομάδες τον πρώτο τους μεγάλο δίσκο με τίτλο Dead or Alive και μας πήραν το μυαλό και... τα αυτιά. Καθώς είναι γνωστό ότι το Wild Thing, εκτός από το να κοιτάει πίσω, φροντίζει σταθερά να κοιτάει και μπροστά, θεωρήσαμε λοιπόν ότι πρέπει να σας τους γνωρίσουμε καλύτερα.

Crematory, Germany’s leading gothic metal act sign with Steamhammer/SPV
Germany's leading gothic metal act have signed with Steamhammer/SPV. Their new album Antiserum has been scheduled for release on 24 February 2014, while a single and a back catalogue box will be out on 22 November 2013.
Steamhammer/SPV's signing of the band Crematory from Southern Germany has been accompanied by a whole number of exciting releases and surprises. The most important information to start off with: 24 February 2014 (Germany: 21 February 2014; US: 25 February 2014) will see the arrival of the new Crematory album, Antiserum.
"We're really looking forward to our collaboration with Steamhammer/SPV, a globally renowned label and expert partner in what we're planning for the future", says drummer Markus Jüllich, adding: "Our fans can look forward to Antiserum, on which we have gone one step further than we did on our comeback album Revolution in terms of our electronic influences. In collaboration with Elmar Schmidt of Hamburg EBM act Centhron, we have come up with a haunting mix of metal riffs and EBM keyboards. That's why I'd refer to Antiserum's musical direction as 'EBM metal'."
The first single release "Shadowmaker" will be out on 22 November 2013 and is guaranteed to wet the appetite for the album. Jüllich: "Even before the whole record was finalised we knew that 'Shadowmaker' had absolute hit potential. You'd be hard put to announce our new album better than with this song". On the day of the single launch, there will be another highlight: a special boxset featuring the band's first ten studio albums in a cardboard sleeve. An absolute must-have for all fans and collectors.
Steamhammer A&R manager Olly Hahn says: "I am delighted that Crematory have opted for SPV. They're one of the leading bands in the gothic metal genre, and their latest album Antiserum impresses with its homogeneity and hit potential!"

Serenity Broken
H σχέση του γράφοντος με τα «βαρειά και ανθυγιεινά», ως γνωστόν εις τους παρεπιδημούντες εις το Wild Thing, έχει με τις δεκαετίες ατονίσει. Πόσους κατά βάση ίδιους δίσκους να ακούσει ένας άνθρωπος τέλος πάντων; Στις πόσες χιλιάδες καίγεται; (σσ. μη με ρωτάτε, δε μέτραγα δίσκους ανά genre). Βέβαια το συγκεκριμένο «άθλημα» είναι λίγο σαν το ποδήλατο, που λένε - δεν το ξεχνάς ποτέ. Απλά, όταν το κοντέρ έχει γράψει πολλά πολλά βινύλια/cd, κάπου κανείς αδημονεί πλέον να τελειώνει με το μαρτύριο ακόμη ενός από τα ίδια και - ω ναι - ο πειρασμός του 'next' (σσ. τα κακά της ψηφιακής τεχνολογίας εν γένει) είναι πια σταθερά ισχυρός. Φανταστείτε λοιπόν την έκπληξη που μπορεί να νοιώσει ένας τέτοιος τύπος (σαν τον περιγραφόμενο), όταν αίφνης κι ενώ είναι εντελώς προετοιμασμένος να βαρεθεί, βρεθεί μπροστά σ' ένα δίσκο σαν το Commercial Suicide, που ακούει απανωτά τρεις - τέσσερεις φορές και αντιλαμβάνεται ότι περνάει εξαιρετικά καλά μαζί του παρά το γεγονός ότι ουσιωδώς το περιεχόμενο δεν αποτελεί κάτι ρηξικέλευθα καινούργιο. Η έκπληξη δε, είναι ακόμη ισχυρότερη, γιατί έχει να κάνει με ελληνικό συγκρότημα και μάλιστα πρωτοεμφανιζόμενο δισκογραφικά.
